San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Darwin Ceren is currently representing the Quakes at the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup with the El Salvador National Team.

While his presence is missed in San Jose, he is busy at work as Los Cuscatlecos prepare for Thursday’s match against Curacao at 5 p.m.

Darwin and El Salvador have already played one game so far in the tournament, falling 3-1 to Mexico on Sunday, July 9 at Qualcomm Stadium.

El Salvador reached the Quarterfinals in the 2002, 2003, 2011 and 2013 Gold Cups, but did not make it past the group stage in 2015. A win against Curacao on Thursday would put El Salvador in better position in Group C to advance to the next round in this year’s competition.

He is not the only Ceren on the El Salvador roster, as his younger brother Oscar is also on the squad.
