JT - Jackson - 2

SAN JOSE, Calif. â€“ San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski and midfielder Jackson Yueill were named to the final United States U-23 National Team roster for  the upcoming Concacaf Olympic Qualifiers from March 18-30 in Guadalajara, Mexico. Both players were selected from the 28-player camp squad that began training on March 1 in Mexico.

The U.S. must reach the final of the competition in order to qualify for this summer’s Olympics. The Americans will first need to finish top-two in their group to advance to the semifinals.

The United States were placed in Group A with Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, and Mexico. Team USA will face Costa Rica on Thursday, March 18 (1:30 p.m. PT), the Dominican Republic on Sunday, March 21 (4:00 p.m. PT), and Mexico on Wednesday, March 24 (6:30 p.m. PT). All three matches will be broadcast live on FOX Sports 1, TUDN, and on the Concacaf Official App.

Marcinkowski and Yueill recently participated in the U.S. U-23 National Team camp last month. Following the camp, both Quakes players were selected to represent the senior national team in a friendly against Trinidad and Tobago on Jan. 31.

Marcinkowski, 23, has competed extensively at the youth national team level and has also received three prior senior national team call-ups (May 2019, January 2020, December 2020). He has appeared in all eight training camps for the U-23s this cycle, including the team’s joint camp with the USMNT in 2019. Marcinkowski also competed at the 2017 Concacaf U-20 Championship and the 2017 FIFA U-20 World Cup. During the 2020 MLS season, Marcinkowski made 11 starts, recorded four shutouts and earned a 6-3-2 record.

Yueill, 23, has made eight prior appearances for the senior national team as well as two appearances for the U-23s. Yueill started in three of the four matches that led to the USA finishing first in Concacaf Nations League Group A in 2019. Yueill was also part of the U-23 team that traveled to Mexico for the Concacaf Men’s Olympic Qualifying Championship last March before the tournament was postponed due to a COVID-19 outbreak. Named the Quakes’ Young Player of the Year in both 2019 and 2020, Yueill has missed just four total regular season matches over the last two seasons and played a team-high 1,861 minutes in 2020.
