SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes goalkeeper Matt Bersano underwent surgery on Tuesday morning to remove a bone fragment from his left hand. The surgery was performed by Dr. Roberto Diaz of Sutter Health and recovery is expected to take three weeks.
Bersano, 26, joined the Earthquakes ahead of the 2017 season. He spent much of the 2018 season on loan with San Jose’s United Soccer League affiliate Reno 1868 FC, helping the club finish with a 16-7-11 regular season record and an appearance in the Western Conference semifinal.
