First Snow of 2018 Set to Fall on December 2 at Quakes Winterfest
The San Jose Earthquakes’ third-annual Winterfest will return to Avaya Stadium on Sunday, Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. The holiday festival will feature 20 tons of snow and holiday-themed activities, including rotating performances, inflatable games and a craft fair. Canned goods are a suggested donation upon entry to the festival and will benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Read the full story here.
Earthquakes Announce Assistants on Almeyda’s Staff for 2019
The San Jose Earthquakes today announced the assistants on head coach Matias Almeyda’s staff for the 2019 MLS season. Omar Zarif and Benjamin Galindo will serve as assistant coaches, Carlos Roa joins as a goalkeeper coach, Guido Bonini will oversee strength and conditioning, and Fabio Alvarez will take over as the team’s kinesiologist. Almeyda, Zarif, Roa, Bonini and Alvarez all worked together at Chivas, where they recently led the Mexican side to the 2018 CONCACAF Champions League title in April. Read the full story here.
Avaya Stadium to Host U.S. MNT Friendly against Costa Rica February 2
The San Jose Earthquakes and U.S. Soccer announced that Avaya Stadium in San Jose will host the U.S. Men’s National Team for a friendly against Costa Rica on Saturday, Feb. 2. The match will be televised on FS1 and Univision Networks, with kickoff time to be announced at a later date. “It’s always an honor and pleasure to host the U.S. National Team at Avaya Stadium,” said Earthquakes President Tom Fox. “We have an incredibly passionate fanbase here in the Bay Area and expect they’ll turn up in numbers to support the red, white and blue.”Read the full story here.
