SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club has loaned midfielder Gilbert Fuentes and defender Casey Walls to Austin Bold FC of the USL Championship for the 2021 season.
Fuentes, 19, signed a Homegrown Player contract with San Jose prior to the 2018 season, becoming the youngest signing in club history at the time (15 years, 339 days). Fuentes has since made three MLS appearances and another 16 appearances on loan with former USL Championship affiliate Reno 1868 FC. The Tracy, Calif. native has previously represented the United States at the U-15, U-16 and U-17 levels, while also earning a call-up to the El Salvador U-23s earlier this year.
Walls, 18, signed a Homegrown Player contract with San Jose prior to the 2020 season and has yet to make his professional debut. The London, England native has previously represented the United States at the U-14, U-15 and U-16 levels.
