SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that Avaya Stadium will host a friendly match between Mexican sides Chivas and Pumas de la UNAM on Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 7:30 p.m.
An exclusive presale for Earthquakes Season Pass Holders will begin on Friday, Aug. 10 at 10 a.m. PT before being made available to the general public on Monday, Aug. 13 at 10 a.m. PT. Tickets can be purchased at ticketmaster.com, the Avaya Stadium box office or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
Chivas are one of the 10 founding members of the Mexican First Division and are one of two teams that have never been relegated to the second division. With more than 100 years of history, Chivas have 12 league championships, four Copa MX titles, seven Campeon de Campeones and one Supercopa MX. In 2018, Chivas won the CONCACAF Champions League for just the second time in team history, defeating Major League Soccer’s Toronto FC in the final.
Pumas de la UNAM, founded in 1954, have won seven league championships, three CONCACAF champions league titles, one Copa MX, two Campeon de Campeones and one Copa Interamericana.
Avaya Stadium has hosted eight prior matches between two Liga MX sides, most recently featuring Club America and Monarcas Morelia this July, with America claiming a 2-1 victory.
