Special Olympics Unified Teams battle
The San Jose Earthquakes Special Olympics Unified Team will also be traveling to Texas to take on Houston’s Unified Special Olympics Team Saturday morning at Houston Sports Park. Later that evening, the two squads will cheer on their respective teams as they take the pitch at BBVA Compass Stadium.
Wondo’s Return
Chris Wondolowski is returning to Houston, where he played from 2006 until 2009. During his first season with the Dynamo he led the team in scoring with 13 goals in 11 games. In 2008, he captained the team in their US Open Cup appearance against Charleston Battery.
Darwin Cerén
There will be a familiar face in the crowd when the Quakes take the pitch in Houston. Former Quakes player Darwin Cerèn, who was traded to Dynamo earlier this year, will clash with his former teammates at BBVA Compass Stadium.
The Matchup
The Dynamo squad is on a high after defeating Philadelphia Union 3-0 in the U.S. Open Cup on September 26, while the Quakes are looking to end a 4 game losing streak after falling to LAFC on September 22.
