Ahead of Saturday’s highly anticipated California Clasico at Stanford Stadium, Thompson helped inspire a match day poster design that best depicted the longtime rivalry between the Northern California and Southern California clubs. With Thompson's suggestions, graphic designer Matt Shipley illustrated a breathtaking scene from a match at Stanford Stadium.

When asked about the rivalry, he offered up words like “passion” and “goals” while also noting the mesmerizing sunsets that typically mark a match at Stanford Stadium. While the competition on the field may be fierce, sometimes it's important to appreciate the Cali Clasico in all its sun-soaked beauty."
