Tuesday marks the 20th anniversary of the hiring of Frank Yallop as head coach and the beginning of one of the most historic seasons in Earthquakes history. 2001 saw the Quakes erase the memory of a last-place finish the year prior and hoist their first league championship, the first team in American professional sports history to accomplish the feat. Throughout 2021, we will look back at the historic moments from that legendary season, hear from those involved, and celebrate San Jose’s first major sports championship.

Our celebration of the 2001 MLS Cup champs wouldn’t be complete without a team reunion. This season, players and coaches from the star-studded championship team will hop on video conferencing calls throughout the year to catch up and tell stories about their magical run. The calls will be recorded and shared on the club’s YouTube channel. Stay tuned for the date of the premiere.
San Jose Earthquakes Community Race
Beginning March 1st, you have 20 days to hit 7.4 miles to celebrate the 20-year anniversary of our first MLS Cup title in 2001.
You can run, walk, or roll (scooter, skate, skateboard, cycle, wheel) the 7.4 miles over the course of the 20 days or you can knock them all out in one day. You can run part of it and walk the other part and maybe even cycle another. It's up to you. Have fun with it!
What's different about this race? You'll be separated into teams with each team having two team captains - one current player and one alumni player from our legendary 2001 team. Register Here
