FANTASY: A look around the league

San Jose Earthquakes - 2019 - Judson - vs. Vancouver

The Quakes may be off this weekend, but there are five matches being played this Saturday, including a pair of big Western Conference matchups. Colorado is set to take on Seattle, while Portland plays at Sporting KC. Positive results from Colorado and Sporting will greatly benefit the Quakes and their position for the playoffs.

But that’s enough for speculation. It’s time to get down to business. With or without the Quakes, you need to fill out your fantasy lineup.

So, who do you choose?

LAFC heads to Orlando on Saturday, and it would be wise to put an LAFC keeper in your lineup. Play close attention to the lineup as Tyler Miller (LAFC, $7.9m) or Pablo Sisniega (LAFC, $4.2m) will be looking for a clean sheet agains the Lions.

On the defensive side, going with a mix of NYCFC, Toronto, and Seattle defenders; Anton Tinnerholm (NYCFC, $8.5m), Omar Gonzalez (Toronto, $6.7m), and Brad Smith (Seattle, $5m) should prove fruitful.

The midfield is where you can add a little more variety. There are several very good, and very expensive, midfielders to choose from, but Latif Blessing (LAFC, $10.1) should definitely be in your lineup. Blessing is expensive, but he has started in eight-straight games and played the full 90 min in all but one of those.  Diego Chara (Portland, $8.5m), Nicolas Benezet (Toronto, $7.5m), and Alejandro Pozuelo (Toronto, $9.6m) should all provide positive points.

LAFC is going to be your go-to for a forward. LAFC will score goals. Therefore, for your third LAFC player, go with either Adama Diomande (LAFC, $8.1m) or Diego Rossi (LAFC, $9.5m). Carlos Vela (LAFC, $15m) would be ideal, but he is still uncertain to start and at this point and if budget is a concern, he comes with a hefty price tag.

Depending on your total budget, you should have enough to pick a budget defender and your four bench players. If not, you may need to consider other options. Other than that, good luck fantasy managers!
