As part of the club’s ongoing commitment to local communities, the San Jose Earthquakes and the Quakes Foundation will make a financial donation to local organizations on behalf of all new signings. The Quakes are working to foster connectivity between the fans, front office, and players with frontline community organizations.
The Earthquakes and the Quakes Foundation have made a donation to Valley Verde on behalf of new signing Nathan.
Valley Verde, founded in 2008, promotes healthy eating and provides food access and micro-entrepreneurship training to low-income families of San Jose and the Silicon Valley. The 501(c)(3) nonprofit offers year-round programming with the goal of making a lasting impact on food security, environmental conservation and access to green space for underserved families. The South Bay community includes a large population of “working underprivileged,” where 92% are immigrants of Latino and Asian descent. These demographics often live in food desert communities, which lack access to fresh, organic vegetables. Silicon Valley is one of the most culturally diverse regions in the country, where 65% of the population belong to multiethnic communities.
