SAN JOSE, Calif. –
The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that Avaya Stadium was named the Product Innovation Award winner at TheStadiumBusiness Awards 2015. Avaya Stadium received the prestigious honor for being the first cloud-enabled stadium in Major League Soccer.
“The Earthquakes have and will continue to push the envelope on new technology inside Avaya Stadium to improve the fan experience,” said club President Dave Kaval. “Winning the Product Innovation Award at such a prominent and respected ceremony is a true achievement for our organization.”
All award winners were announced during TheStadiumBusiness Summit, the largest dedicated meeting in the world for owners, operators and developers of stadiums, arenas and major sport venues, which was held inside FC Barcelona’s Camp Nou.
In addition to taking home the Product Innovation Award, the Earthquakes’ brand new soccer-specific stadium was also on the shortlist for the Venue of the Year Award.
“To have our namesake stadium selected for this prestigious Product Innovation Award is exciting and an honor,” said Joe Manuele, vice president of Global Cloud Services at Avaya. “Avaya embarked on this journey with the Earthquakes one year ago to create new ways for fans to experience events through technology. And we’ve just gotten started. Hats off to all the teams involved to make Avaya Stadium a winner.”
Being a cloud-enabled stadium provides a platform where software and applications run in the cloud. The model lends itself to faster, better fan engagement experiences, including the development of new applications and on-site fan engagement walls.
