- Pushing for a playoff spot
The Quakes find themselves in a tight race for a Western Conference playoff spot with only three points separating the fourth and seventh place teams. With Montreal coming to town Wednesday night, the Quakes will look to recapture their August form where they earned 13 points in six games.
2. Mexican Heritage Night
Pre-game happy hour, live mariachi music, and a halftime performance by Tezkatlipoka Aztec Dance and Drum Group highlight a special night celebrating the Mexican community of San Jose. To purchase tickets to the match, click here.
3. Worth the wait
Wednesday’s match was rescheduled from April 25 due to Montreal’s CCL schedule. Since spring, both teams have bolstered their rosters with San Jose signing Quincy Amarikwa, Anibal Godoy and Marc Pelosi, and Montreal adding Didier Drogba, Johan Venegas from Alajuelenese, and Kyle Bekker.
4. Defending our home
The Earthquakes hold a strong average of 0.7 conceded goals per game at Avaya Stadium, and with the team’s last three goals coming from three different players, there are plenty of scoring options heading into Wednesday’s clash, not to mention the squad is undefeated with Anibal Godoy in the starting lineup (4-0-1).
5. Quincy goes for 20
It’s Quincy’s time. Goalless, but not ineffective in his last 6 starts, the hungry striker can score the 20th goal of his career with a tally on Wednesday night.
6. Wondo keeps climbing
The Quakes’ all-time leading scorer isn’t just making noise in San Jose. He is just two goals shy of tying Jason Kreis for fifth place on the all-time scorer’s list in MLS history. No one can ever rule out a multi-goal game from the Danville native and USMNT member.
