There are not enough superlatives available to express Wondo’s impact on the San Jose Earthquakes. He leads the club in almost every statistical category, including games played (376), games started (313) and most importantly goals scored (167). During his run with San Jose, he earned three MLS Best XI’s, one MLS MVP award and two MLS Golden Boots. He also scored 10 goals or more in a league record 10 straight seasons with his streak only snapped by the Covid-shortened 2020 season. He broke the league record for goals on May 18, 2019 by scoring four times against the Chicago Fire in a downpour in San Jose. He ended his career in 2021 by scoring a goal in his final home game at PayPal Park before announcing to the crowd that he was hanging up his boots.
