The Beast, a Livermore product, was one of the inaugural players for the 1996 San Jose Clash and played three seasons with the Clash before his career was nearly ended by injury. One of MLS’ most inspiring stories, Dayak overcame a nearly career-ending neck injury and an ACL tear to return to the field in 2001. He earned the MLS Comeback Player of the Year award for his incredible comeback. He capped the 2001 season with a golden goal header against the Miami Fusion in the semifinals before partnering with Jeff Agoos in central defense as the Quakes beat the Galaxy in the MLS Cup Final. He played a big role in the 2003 MLS Cup victory, before retiring in 2005.
