The first native of Hawaii to play for the MLS Quakes, Ching had three outstanding years with San Jose and still leads the club in goals per game (.45) and goals per 90 minutes (.54). He scored 25 goals in three seasons, including a 12-goal campaign in 2004 that earned him the MLS Golden Boot. He was also an MLS All-Star and a member of the MLS Best XI team in 2004, earning him a call-up to the U.S. National Team. He formed a lethal attacking trio with Ronald Cerritos and Alejandro Moreno in 2005 to help San Jose to a Supporters’ Shield.
