The club first goal-scoring star, Child led the NASL in scoring in the Earthquakes’ inaugural season with 15 goals and 6 assists. His performance earned him a spot on the NASL All Star Team and two goals in the final regular season match against the LA Aztecs helped clinch a playoff spot. He followed that season with an MVP performance in the 1975 Indoor Championship, leading San Jose to the title at the Cow Palace. For his career, he netted an NASL club record 61 goals for San Jose and 102 overall, a total that places him fifth all-time in NASL history. He is a member of the U.S. Soccer Hall of Fame and the Earthquakes Hall of Fame.
