In Cerritos’ first game with the San Jose Clash, he flicked a header into the corner of the net to help his team defeat the LA Galaxy in front of a packed house at Spartan Stadium. He would never look back, scoring in double figures in four of his six seasons in San Jose. For his efforts, he would earn MLS Best XI, multiple MLS All-Star nods and a spot in the Earthquakes Hall of Fame. He was the team’s leading scorer in 2001 when the Quakes captured their first MLS Cup title and he finished his Quakes tenure in 2005, scoring six goals and notching nine assists to help San Jose to the Supporters’ Shield.
