The iconic duo of Alan Gordon and Steven Lenhart took MLS by storm in the early 2010s, helping San Jose to its second-ever Supporters’ Shield in 2012. The pair became known for their aerial battles, hard tackles and uncanny knack for scoring late goals to help San Jose win or equalize matches. Their pairing with Chris Wondolowski at forward in late-game situations struck fear in the hearts of opponent’s defenses. Gordon’s best year came in 2012 when he netted 13 goals, including an amazing three-game run of late goals (after the 89th minute) to tie or win the game from May 13-23 that season. Lenhart put up 20 goals in his Quakes career with numerous late-game heroics on his resume, capped by his 98th minute equalizer on July 28, 2012 on Lenhart Wig Night and the iconic call from Dan Dibley – “It’s blonde-haired bedlam at Buck Shaw.”
