SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that midfielder Vako has obtained a U.S. Green Card and no longer occupies an international spot on the club's roster. The Green Card drops the Quakes from 10 international players to nine.
Vako, 25, originally joined the Quakes as the team’s youngest ever Designated Player in June of 2017. He has tallied 15 goals and seven assists in 46 appearances since, starting 31 of San Jose’s 34 matches last season.
San Jose currently has nine international players under contract for 2019: goalkeeper Daniel Vega; defenders Guram Kashia, Harold Cummings, Marcos Lopez and Joel Qwiberg; midfielders Magnus Eriksson and Judson; and forwards Danny Hoesen and Cristian Espinoza.
