SAN JOSE, Calif.
– The San Jose Earthquakes will host Fan Appreciation Day, presented by Sutter Health, on Sunday, Oct. 16 during the club’s final home match of the 2016 MLS regular season against Vancouver Whitecaps FC with kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m. The Quakes will celebrate the fans throughout the day with a number of tributes, capped off by a postgame party at the 7UP Epicenter and the TCL 4K Bar.
“As we conclude our second season at Avaya Stadium, we want to pay tribute to those who have supported us and made our one-of-a-kind stadium home in 2016,” said Earthquakes President Dave Kaval. “It has been a memorable year for us, from the success of the California Clasico to the AT&T MLS All-Star Game, and we are fortunate to have an active and engaged fan base supporting us along the way.”
To start the day, the first 10,000 fans that enter Avaya Stadium on Oct. 16 will receive a Quakes t-shirt, courtesy of Sutter Health. Additionally, five Quakes fans will be selected to receive a player’s jersey off his back. Those who want to be one of the five lucky fans can enter to win at the street team booth in the 7UP Epicenter or with a street team member.
At halftime, 10 fans, staff and members of the Earthquakes family will be recognized on field with Devotion Scarves. The Quakes started recognizing those who have shown true devotion to the club with scarves in 2015, and will announce the 2016 winners ahead of the match.
Following the match, the TCL 4K Bar will be open and a band will perform in the 7UP Epicenter. Members of the Quakes team will be at the postgame event signing autographs and taking photos with fans. Quakes supporters can also enter the pitch to take photos and stand where some of their favorite moments in soccer have taken place.
Throughout the day fans can enjoy the We Score You Score discount at the Quakes Team Store, powered by Gyft, which is currently at 53 percent and is expected to increase after the Oct. 13 match against the Colorado Rapids. Fans that purchase a 2016 AT&T MLS All-Star scarf for $10 will also get the opportunity to ‘Kick for Kash,’ where they can attempt to score a goal following the match to win a gift card for Quakes merchandise.
