SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that ‘The Best Game Ever’ presented by Avaya, a match between two deserving youth teams, will return to Avaya Stadium on Saturday, Aug. 27 at 3 p.m. PT. The day will also feature stadium tours, a National Kidney Foundation free kidney health screening and a viewing party for the Quakes vs. Columbus Crew SC match. Fans are invited to attend and support the event with free admission and parking in the VIP and Platinum lots.
Unbeknownst to them, two U-12 girls teams from Santa Cruz and Tracy will arrive at Avaya Stadium on Aug. 27 expecting a stadium tour, but instead will compete like the Quakes on the field with supporters, celebrity guest coaches, a public address announcer and a running video board. They will also participate in a full pre-game walkout, team photos, coin flip and national anthem.
The two teams were selected from a group of applicants that submitted essays explaining why they were deserving of the opportunity. In 2015, the Richmond Sol and San Jose New Stars competed at Avaya Stadium for a first-hand MLS experience.
In addition to ‘The Best Game Ever,’ Earthquakes representatives will provide tours of Avaya Stadium throughout the day, providing behind the scenes access of the state-of-the-art 18,000-seat home of the Quakes. To schedule a tour, please sign up online.
The National Kidney Foundation will also provide a free kidney health check from 1:30 – 5:30 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to receive a risk survey, blood pressure check, body mass index (BMI) measurement and the chance to speak with a healthcare professional to access their risk of suffering from kidney disease.
The day’s activities will lead up to a viewing party of the Quakes vs. Columbus Crew SC game with kickoff scheduled for 4:30 p.m. PT. The match will be played live on the large video board facing Coleman Ave., with children’s activities and food and drinks available for purchase.
