1. Roster Shakeup
The badges on the jerseys may remain the same, but these two teams have made significant changes to their lineups since they last met on August 28. Key additions for Los Angeles include Ashley Cole, Jelle Van Damme, and Nigel de Jong. The Quakes added the likes of Simon Dawkins, Alberto Quintero and Kip Colvey.

2. Dawkins’ First Road Trip
Simon Dawkins’ impact was surely felt in the famed Supporters' Shield run of 2012, but this will be his first road test since his return, and much has changed. A new logo, new threads, new stadium and new teammates are all factors in the Jamaican international’s adjustment back to MLS play. It is only fitting that he would make his road debut in the first California Clasico of 2016.
3. #QuincyTime
“The Chip” made noise around the world. From
#1 on SportsCenter’s famed Top 10
, to the
shock displayed by athletes & pundits on social media
for the better part of a week, his stunning game-winning strike gives the Quakes confidence & momentum as they step out onto the pitch at StubHub Center.
4. Staying Hot
The Quakes sit atop the Western Conference with 6 points and an undefeated record. To say that they’ve started the season off on the right foot would be an understatement, but San Jose are not satisfied yet. 3 points from their bitter rivals as they head into two weeks with no games would be a welcomed accomplishment.
