SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club will host a series of camps during the summer, which are aimed at any player that wants to further develop their game in soccer. Camps will be held for boys and girls at both the competitive and recreational level over a wide array of age ranges. The San Jose Earthquakes Summer Camp Program is divided into six categories – college, academy, pre-academy, goalkeeper, recreational and team – and are available for weeklong sessions from June to August. The camps are held in several different locations, including, but not limited to, San Jose, Los Gatos, Morgan Hill and Danville. The College Camp (ages 12-18) is designed for players who aspire to compete in the academy and later in college. Players will be trained in both technical and tactical play, with classroom sessions, scrimmages and presentations from college coaches across Division 1, Division 2 and junior college levels. Goalkeepers are welcome.
The Academy Camp (ages 7-18) is for players with a desire to be seen and coached by the Earthquakes Academy staff. Training sessions will be similar to that of the Quakes Academy. Goalkeepers are welcome.
The Pre-Academy Camp (ages 7-18) is open to a wide age range, although focuses primarily on younger athletes that aspire to play for a professional club’s academy. Goalkeepers in this age group should look into the Goalkeeper Camp.
Goalkeeper Camp (ages 7-18) is for aspiring goalkeepers to work on and learn proper technique for distribution, diving, receiving and making decisions in the box. The curriculum is designed by former Cal Poly goalkeeper coach and current San Jose Earthquakes Academy assistant coach Luis Trejo.
The Recreational Camp (ages 5-14) is designed to provide a learning experience in a fun and positive environment. Teaching fundamentals will be a key part of the camp’s curriculum, with a small portion dedicated to tactics.
Team Camps are for clubs that would like an Earthquakes Academy staff member to run a camp specifically for their team. The camps can be organized in a variety of ways depending on the team’s age, experience level and learning desires.
