WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW: This week's notes going into #SJvMIN

Vako - vs. Portland 2017

“Win and we’re in”

With San Jose's draw against Vancouver and losses by both FC Dallas and Real Salt Lake, the Quakes have moved from eighth to sixth place in the Western Conference. A win against the Loons on Sunday would be enough for the Earthquakes to punch their ticket to the postseason for the first time since 2012. The Quakes can still advance to the playoffs with a draw or loss depending on the other results in the conference.

First Time at Avaya

Sunday afternoon marks the second MLS matchup ever between the Earthquakes and Minnesota United FC. This will be the first time the two clubs will face off at Avaya Stadium.

Vako Stays Hot

Forward Vako tallied the late equalizer on Sunday afternoon in Vancouver, helping the Quakes jump from eighth to sixth in the West. He has now tallied either a goal or an assist in each of the last three games (2g, 2a).

Shea Time

Midfielder Shea Salinas has officially logged over 15,000 career minutes in MLS (15,080).

#AvayaCastle

San Jose closes out the regular season with their last game at Avaya Stadium. The Quakes are 11-2-5 in their home matches this season, including both MLS and U.S. Open Cup contests.

Record Breaker

If Quakes forward Chris Wondolowski scores one goal against Minnesota, he will tie Jeff Cunningham for second most goals in Major League Soccer history (134).

Game Winning

Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski is one game-winning goal away from tying Jeff Cunningham for second most in Major League Soccer history (40).
