SAN JOSE, Calif. -
The 2015 International Champions Cup North America Presented by Guinness provides fans with a unique opportunity to see their favorite clubs take on teams from around the world that they otherwise wouldn’t be able to. The tournament pits a total of 10 clubs from the United States, Mexico, England, Italy, Spain, France and Portugal against one another, with matches being held across the U.S., as well as Canada and Mexico.

The San Jose Earthquakes were selected as one of three Major League Soccer participants in the tournament, joining the New York Red Bulls and the LA Galaxy. Moreover, the Quakes new venue, Avaya Stadium, will be one of two stadiums in North America to host multiple matches.

Each team will play four contests and the club with the most points at the end of the tournament will be crowned champion. Each win in regulation will result in three points and a tie will go straight to a shootout; the winning team in a shootout will receive two points and the losing team will receive one. The results from in-season Major League Soccer contests involving tournament participants will be used as part of official tournament scoring.

On July 14, San Jose will welcome Club América of Mexico. Club América is the largest and most successful team in the history of Liga MX, winning 35 championships between all domestic and international tournaments. This match will mark América’s second of four contests in the tournament, with duels against the Galaxy (7/11), Manchester United (7/17) and SL Benfica (7/28) rounding out their competition.
Exactly one week later, the Quakes host defending ICC champions Manchester United, arguably the most famous and recognizable soccer club in the world. It marks the first time in 35 years that Manchester United will appear in the Bay Area. Since the Premier League was founded in 1992, the Red Devils have claimed 13 titles, three more than all other clubs combined. In addition, with world-renowned players like Wayne Rooney, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Juan Mata and Memphis Depay, United are sure to provide must-see action wherever they compete. In tournament play, Man U will also battle with Club América (7/17), FC Barcelona (7/25) and Paris Saint-Germain (7/29).
All ICC matches will be broadcast live on FOX, FOX Sports 1 or FOX Sports 2. A full list of competitors, match fixtures and available tickets can be found by
