Quincy Amarikwa Advances to Semifinals in MLS Goal of the Year Voting
Quincy Amarikwa’s incredible chip goal scored in the 2-1 victory against the Portland Timbers on Sunday, March 13 is in the semifinals for MLS Goal of the Year. Catching goalkeeper Adam Kwarasey off his line, Amarikwa launched a 40-yard chip up and over the keeper and into the top corner of the goal. ‘The Chip’ is up against Colorado’s Shkelzen Gashi’s free kick scored against Vancouver Whitecaps FC. Fans can vote for Amarikwa here until Tuesday, Nov. 8.


Five Earthquakes Called to Respective National Teams
San Jose Earthquakes midfielders Cordell Cato, Anibal Godoy and Alberto Quintero, and defenders Kip Colvey and Shaun Francis have all been called to their respective national teams. Cato, Godoy, Quintero and Colvey will each compete in a pair of 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifying matches, while Francis will play in a single Caribbean Cup qualifier.
Gilbert Fuentes from Earthquakes Academy Called Up to USBNT U-15 Training Camp
The U.S. Under-15 Boys’ National Team head coach Dave van den Bergh has called up Gilbert Fuentes from the San Jose Earthquakes Academy along with 35 more players to take part in the team’s second and final domestic training camp of the year, set to take place from Nov. 5-12 in Bradenton, Fla.

Avaya Stadium to Host USWNT Friendly Against Romania Nov. 10
Avaya Stadium, home of the San Jose Earthquakes, will host the U.S. Women’s National Team for a friendly against Romania this Thursday, Nov. 10. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and the match will be televised on ESPN2. The roster features six players with Bay Area ties, including current Stanford senior Andi Sullivan, Stanford alumni Kelley O’Hara and Christian Press, Santa Clara University alumna Julie Johnston, former Cal Bear Alex Morgan and Abby Dahlkemper from Menlo Park. Tickets can be purchased here or at Ticketmaster ticket centers throughout the Bay Area.
Snow to Fall in San Jose on Dec. 10 at Avaya Stadium
The holidays will hit San Jose in full force on Saturday, Dec.10 as the San Jose Earthquakes will host the first-ever Winterfest at Avaya Stadium. The holiday-themed festival will run from noon through 5 p.m. and will feature more than 10 tons of snow and holiday-related activities ahead of a viewing party for MLS Cup 2016. General admission to Winterfest is free, although new and gently used toys or canned goods are a suggested donation upon entry.

Nov. 9, 2004
The Earthquakes exercised the option on head coach Dominic Kinnear and AEG announced that the Quakes would remain in San Jose for the 2005 season, resulting in the club’s first-ever Supporters’ Shield.
ACADEMY UPDATE
The Earthquakes Academy U-13 and U-14 teams had a busy weekend, competing in a combined six games in a three-day period. On Friday, Nov. 4, the U-13s earned a point against the San Diego Surf in a 1-1 tie, but later fell to the Los Angeles United Futbol Academy by a 3-2 score line. On Saturday, Nov. 5, the U-14 squad defeated Albion SC 3-0, while the U-13s tied the LA Galaxy 1-1. On Sunday, Nov. 6 the U-14s competed in two games. They started the day falling to Seattle Sounders FC 5-2, but later earned three points in a 1-0 victory against the Portland Timbers.
Next weekend, all Earthquakes Academy teams will be in action. On Saturday, Nov. 12, the U-18s and U-16s will face Strikers FC while the U-14s, U-13s and U-12s will face Santa Rosa United. On Sunday, Nov. 13, the U-18s and U-16s will compete against the Pateadores.
