Jahmir Hyka’s skillful game-winner against FC Dallas on May 20 has been nominated for the 2017 AT&T MLS Goal of the Year.
The play begins from a Nick Lima pass, which was cleverly redirected over the FC Dallas backline by Marco Ureña. The ball then takes a high bounce inside the penalty area as Dallas defender Matt Hedges runs over to close down the space. Hyka, 5’7, gets to the ball first and pokes it over the head of the 6’4 defender with a leaping effort, then side-footing the volley the ball just inside the far post.
