Travel Day: Quakes arrive in Palm Springs

Preseason

The San Jose Earthquakes have been busy this preseason. The team has already spent a week in Santa Barbara, in which they played two friendlies, and later took on Monterey Bay F.C. in Seaside last Saturday. While preseason scores are largely insignificant, the Quakes certainly won’t complain about their unbeaten 2-0-1 record.

On Monday morning, the team trained in San Jose before eating a quick lunch and departing for Palm Springs. Upon arrival to the resort, the team was greeted with their room keys and a light snack consisting of sandwiches and fruit to hold them over until dinner.

The sprawling resort sits on 360 acres and is in a picturesque mountain-desert landscape. The resort also includes a magnificent golf course, which may come in handy for the players’ one scheduled day off during the nearly two-week stay.

The Quakes will hit the training ground in the morning to kick-off what will be an important opportunity to gain fitness and build team chemistry. The team’s first match is scheduled for Thursday morning against D.C. United.
