TopDrawerSoccer, a leader in youth soccer coverage, features a player-ranking system categorized on each individual’s high-school graduation year. Their most recent update has seen several San Jose Earthquakes and Quakes Academy players shoot up their leaderboard.
For the Class of 2024, three Quakes players currently rank in the top-10. Cruz Medina, who signed a Homegrown Player contract on June 3, is the nation’s No. 1 player, while fellow Homegrown Niko Tsakiris comes in at No. 7. The two attacking midfielders are joined by Quakes Academy winger Fidel Barajas, who is ranked No. 5.
Medina is a member of the United States U17 National Team; Tsakiris is currently with the U.S. U20s for the Concacaf U20 Championship; and Barajas has bounced back-and-forth between the U.S. and Mexico at the U17 level.
The trio are also accompanied by Quakes Academy players and U.S. U17 National Teamers Edwyn Mendoza (No. 25) and Oscar Verhoeven (No. 32) in the top-50.
