SAN JOSE, Calif. – Three San Jose Earthquakes midfielders – Simon Dawkins, Anibal Godoy and Alberto Quintero – have been called to their respective national teams for World Cup Qualifying matches.
Dawkins, 28, joins the Jamaica National Team for their two matches against Costa Rica. The contests are held at Independence Park in Kingston, Jamaica on Friday, March 25 (5 p.m. PT) and Estadio Nacional de Costa Rica in San Jose, Costa Rica on Tuesday, March 29 (7 p.m. PT).
Dawkins joined the Quakes on a permanent transfer in January after spending the 2011 and 2012 seasons on loan with the club. He has totaled 14 goals and three assists in 56 matches during his career with San Jose.
Godoy, 26, and Quintero, 28, will represent Panama in a home-and-away series with Haiti. The first match takes place at Stade Sylvio Cator in Port-au-Prince, Haiti on Friday, March 25 (4 p.m. PT) with the subsequent match at Estadio Rommel Fernandez in Panama City on Tuesday, March 29 (6:30 p.m. PT).
Godoy has earned 62 total caps for Panama since his international debut in 2010, scoring one goal. He has led the Quakes to an 8-2-3 record during his 13 appearances in the club’s starting XI since joining the team midseason last year, including a 2-1-0 record this season.
Quintero joined the Earthquakes on a season-long loan from Lobos BUAP on February 24. So far in 2016, he has started all three MLS matches to date, tallying one game-winning assist.
Both Jamaica and Panama are attempting to advance from Group B. The top two teams from each group will progress from Round Four to Round Five. For a full schedule with standings, click here.
