From his leadership on the field to his post-match comments, Quakes defender
Florian Jungwirth
has proven to be quite the character in his first season for San Jose. He’s showing that he can be a difference maker, too.
Jungwirth’s game-winning goal last weekend against Minnesota United FC was his second of the season and it earned the Quakes three valuable points away from home. It also earned him a place on the MLS Team of the Week roster for Week 9, the second time he’s made the list following the Week 1 Best XI honors he received for helping the Quakes shut out Ignacio Piatti and the Montreal Impact.
What’s more, the former Bundesliga player is currently the only outfield player to have played all 810 minutes of the Earthquakes’ season thus far and he’s done it in a position outside of his preferred defensive midfielder role. Talk about making an impact!
Cordell Cato was also named to the bench this week after a strong performance at right back.
Congratulations to Florian and Cordell on their latest accomplishments!
