The San Jose Earthquakes are traveling around the world during the offseason, enjoying their free time before the 2018 season starts.
Earthquakes 2017 Defensive Player of the Year Florian Jungwirth returned to his native Germany, and realized that he had acclimated very well to the California sun with the snow and cold coming as a bit of a shock.
Flo also traveled to Spain to visit Barcelona and volunteer at a dog rescue.
Homegrown defender Nick Lima went to Hawaii to do one of his favorite activities: scuba diving.
He swam with sharks.
Hykachu went back to Albania and was interviewed on the national TV station Top Channel.
Midfielder Darwin Ceren said “I do” at the altar on Dec. 27, and goalkeeper Andrew Tarbell will get married later this month.
The offseason does not mean that the Quakes do not spend time with their teammates. Fatai Alashe traveled around Europe and defender Francois Affolter gave him an insider tour of Switzerland.
Needless to say, the Quakes have seen much of the world during the offseason.
