In preparation for Panama’s first-ever appearance in a FIFA World Cup, the Panama National Team traveled to Europe to take on Denmark. Earthquakes players Anibal Godoy and Harold Cummings were called up for the international friendlies, with the match against Denmark taking place today.
Panamanian salsa singer Ruben Blades wished the Panama good luck on Twitter before the match.
Cummings said in an interview during the weekly Quakes show with Carlos Cesar Rivera that the Panama National Team listens to Ruben Blades before each game.
Cummings was on the bench for the match, while Godoy started and played the full 90 minutes.
Los Canaleros came up short in the game, falling 1-0. Panama’s Blas Perez received a red card in the 66th minute, and Denmark scored the game’s lone goal three minutes later through Pione Sisto.
The Panama National Team will now take on Switzerland on Tuesday, March 27 at Swissporarena in Lucerne, Switzerland.
