SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes fell to LAFC 5-1 on Wednesday evening at Banc of California Stadium. Forward Danny Hoesen scored the Quakes’ lone goal of the match on assists by Cristian Espinoza and Marcos Lopez.
LAFC got on the board in the 21st minute through Diego Rossi and took a 1-0 lead into halftime. The SoCal side would add four in the second half before Hoesen scored two minutes into stoppage time, volleying a cross by Espinoza through the arms of goalkeeper Pablo Sisniega.
The Quakes will now return to San Jose to play a match at Earthquakes Stadium for the first time since March 7 this Saturday, Sept. 5 against the Colorado Rapids. The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 and1370 KZSF.

San Jose had three Homegrown Players in the starting lineup for the second time this season and fifth time in club history.
Sixteen-year-old Homegrown Player Cade Cowell made his second MLS start, playing 57 minutes. He has now made four appearances for the Quakes this season.
Rookie defender Tanner Beason made his second MLS start, playing 90 minutes in tonight’s match.
Midfielder Eric Calvillo made his first appearance of the season, entering the match as a substitute in the 69th minute.
Forward Danny Hoesen scored his first goal of the season and 23rd of his MLS career.
Defender Marcos Lopez made his first appearance of the season, entering the match as a substitute at halftime. He tallied an assist on Hoesen’s goal, his first assist of the season and second of his MLS career.
Midfielder Cristian Espinoza tallied an assist on Hoesen’s goal, his fourth assist of the season and 17th of his MLS career.
