The San Jose Earthquakes Youth Academy drew 80 fresh faces to its second tryout on Saturday, April 24 in Danville, Calif. after seeing 120 participants one week ago in the first tryout session. So far, 24 players have been selected between the Under-16 and Under-18 sides of the inaugural Quakes Youth Academy.
"The response from all over Northern California has been amazing with players from the East Bay to Marin County, the Central Valley to the Peninsula and San Francisco all hoping to be considered for the new Earthquakes Youth Academy," said Director Fred Wilson. "Several players have seen national-level playing experience and it's really just been an all-around quality group of kids so far."
On Saturday, May 1, the Academy coaching staff will host a third tryout at Accinelli Park in Union City prior to the San Jose Earthquakes home match against the Colorado Rapids. The tryout will last from 3:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m.
Youth who would like to participate at the next tryout should make sure to fax or email the APPLICATION FORM (EMAIL / FAX: 925.648.792). If you have not been invited by San Jose Earthquakes Juniors Academy staff to the tryout, please provide a reference from a coach and/or DOC that would recommend your ability to play at the Academy level.
