San Jose Earthquakes forward Chris Wondolowski and defender Florian Jungwirth are locked into the 2020 MLS season after penning new contracts, the team announced last week.
Wondolowski tallied a team-best of 15 goals in 2019, surpassing Landon Donavan (145) in MLS career goals with 159. Wondolowski’s 15 goals are the most among all American-born players throughout the league. Wondolowski’s career in MLS is highlighted by multiple league records including most game-winning goals (44), road goals (74), and goals for one club (155).
Jungwirth was named Earthquakes Defensive Player of the Year for the second time since joining San Jose in 2017. Jungwirth led San Jose to a 13-12-5 record across 30 starts in 2019 and ranked second in MLS in interceptions per game (2.2).
