Chris Wondolowski returns to the United States Men’s National Team ahead of a pair of crucial FIFA World Cup Qualifying fixtures. The U.S., currently in third place in the Hex, are hoping Wondolowski can contribute against Marco Urena and Costa Rica Friday, Sept. 1 at Red Bull Arena and Honduras Tuesday, Sept. 5 at Estadio Olympic in San Pedro Sula.
The United States, boasting a 2-2-2 record in the qualifying group, are hoping to continue their winning ways after taking home the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup trophy in July. In their last pair of World Cup Qualifiers, the U.S. defeated Cordell Cato and Trinidad and Tobago 2-0 on June 8 and secured a massive point against rival Mexico on July 11.
Wondolowski has been in top form for the Quakes in 2017, compiling 10+ goals for the eighth consecutive season and recording the most road goals in MLS history in Sunday’s 3-0 win against the Galaxy. The San Jose captain's last call-up came during the United States' FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in March in San Jose and Panama City.
