NEWS: Three Earthquakes Players Called for International Duty

SAN JOSE, Calif. – Three San Jose Earthquakes players have been called up by their respective senior national teams for the upcoming international window. Ousseni Bouda (Burkina Faso), Carlos Gruezo (Ecuador), and Miguel Trauco (Peru) will all represent the Quakes internationally in September.

All players will miss San Jose’s match against D.C. United on Saturday, Sept. 9. 

Ousseni Bouda, 23, will represent Burkina Faso in a group stage match as they pursue qualification for the 2023 African Cup of Nations against Eswatini on Friday, Sept. 8 (11 a.m. PT). Burkina Faso will then play an international friendly against Morocco on Tuesday, Sept. 12 (11:30 a.m. PT). Bouda made his national team debut for Burkina Faso in a 3-1 victory over Eswatini on June 7, 2022. 

Carlos Gruezo, 27, will represent Ecuador in the first round of the South American 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Ecuador will face reigning World Cup champions Argentina on Thursday, Sept. 7 (5:00 p.m. PT) and Uruguay on Tuesday, Sept. 12 (2:00 p.m. PT). Gruezo has made 49 appearances for the Ecuador National Team, including FIFA World Cup and Copa America tournaments. He made one appearance during the 2022 FIFA World Cup, starting vs. Senegal. 

Miguel Trauco, 31, will represent Peru in the first round of the South American 2026 World Cup qualifiers. Peru will face Paraguay on Thursday, Sept. 7 (3:30 p.m. PT) and Brazil on Tuesday, Sept. 12 (7:00 p.m. PT). Trauco has made 70 prior appearances for Peru, including every group stage match during the 2018 FIFA World Cup, as well as helping Peru reach the 2022 FIFA World Cup inter-confederation playoff. The Tarapoto, Peru native has made three goal and two assists in 21 appearances (17 starts) for San Jose.
