SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes midfielders Darwin Ceren and Anibal Godoy, along with forward Marco Ureña have been called up to their respective national teams for the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup, taking place from July 7 – 26, with the final at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara.
Ceren, 27, will join the El Salvador National Team as they take on Mexico on Sunday, July 9 at 6 p.m. PT at Qualcomm Stadium in San Diego, California, Curacao on Thursday, July 13 at 5 p.m. PT at the Sports Authority Field in Denver, Colorado, and Jamaica on Sunday, July 16 at 3 p.m. PT at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
Los Cuscatlecos reached the Quarterfinals in 2002, 2003, 2011 and 2013, but did not make it past the group stage in 2015.
Godoy, 27, and the Panama National Team will face the United States on Saturday, July 8 at 1:30 p.m. PT at Nissan Stadium in Nashville, Tennessee, Nicaragua, on Wednesday, July 12 at 3:30 p.m. PT at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida, and Martinique on Saturday, July 15 at 1:30 p.m. PT at FirstEnergy Stadium in Cleveland, Ohio.
Los Canaleros finished in third place in the 2015 Gold Cup, defeating the United States 3-2 on penalties in the third place match.
Ureña, 27, joins the Costa Rica National Team as they face Honduras a Red Bull Arena at 6 p.m. PT on Friday, July 7 in Harrison, New Jersey, Canada on Tuesday, July 11 at 4:30 p.m. PT at BBVA Compass Stadium in Houston, Texas, and compete against French Guiana on Friday, July 14 at 4:30 p.m. at Toyota Stadium in Frisco, Texas.
Costa Rica made it to the Quarterfinals in the 2015 competition. The Ticos finished runners-up in the 2002 Gold Cup, their highest finish in Gold Cup history.
Ceren and Ureña have already departed for their national team camps, while Godoy will leave for Panama on Sunday, July 2 and will be available to play in the California Clasico against the LA Galaxy on Saturday, July 1 at Stanford Stadium.
