SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes defender Miguel Trauco (Peru) and midfielder Jamiro Monteiro (Cape Verde) have been called to their respective national teams for the upcoming FIFA international break.
Monteiro has been called to the Cape Verde National Team to compete in a pair of 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Eswatini. The two teams will clash on Friday, March 24 (9 a.m. PT) at Estadio Nacional de Cabo Verde in Cape Verde and Tuesday, March 28 (6 a.m. PT) at Mbombela Stadium in South Africa.
Monteiro, 29, has made 25 prior appearances for the Cape Verde National Team. The Rotterdam, Netherlands native has tallied four goals and eight assists in 34 MLS appearances since joining the Quakes via trade from Philadelphia on Feb. 22, 2022.
Trauco has been called to the Peru National Team to compete in a pair of international friendlies. Peru will face Germany on Saturday, March 25 (12:45 p.m. PT) at MEWA Arena in Germany, before playing Morocco on Tuesday, March 28 (2:30 p.m. PT) at Civitas Metropolitan Stadium in Spain.
Trauco, 30, has made 68 prior appearances for the Peru National Team, including every Group Stage match during the 2018 FIFA World Cup. The Tarapoto, Peru native joined the Quakes as a free agent on Sept. 2, 2022 and has tallied two assists in six appearances (four starts) for the club since.
