SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Jahmir Hyka has been called up to the Albania National Team for a 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Italy. Hyka is the ninth Quakes player to receive a call up with his respective national team during the March 20 – 28 FIFA International Break.
Albania will face Italy on Friday, Match 24 at Stadio Renzo Barbera in Palermo, Italy. Albania currently sits in fourth place in Europe’s Group G behind Spain (first), Italy (second) and Israel (third) with a 2-2-0 record and six points.
Hyka, 29, has scored two goals in 42 appearances with the Albania National Team since making his senior team debut at 18 years old in 2007. He has appeared in all three regular season games with the Quakes in the 2017 season, earning two assists in the March 11 match against Vancouver and making his first start on March 18 against Sporting Kansas City.
