SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will host viewing parties for every single matchday during the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Downtown San Jose. The World Cup, which will take place this year in Qatar, begins on Sunday, Nov. 20 and concludes with the Final on Sunday, Dec. 18. Viewing parties will be held for 58 of the 64 matches throughout the competition, excluding the eight Group Stage contests that begin at 2 a.m. PT. All matches that begin at or after 5 a.m. PT will be shown at The Old Wagon Saloon & Grill. All matches that begin at or after 7 a.m. PT will also air at O’Flaherty’s Irish Pub. Both locations are on N San Pedro St. in San Pedro Square Market, which is permanently exclusive to foot traffic.
Select marquee matches the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving will feature a more robust festival atmosphere. Thanksgiving weekend features can’t-miss action including the United States vs. England (Friday, Nov. 25 at 11 a.m. PT), Argentina vs. Mexico (Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. PT), and Spain vs. Germany (Sunday, Nov. 27 at 11 a.m. PT). A block of W St. John St. will be closed to vehicles to create a more walking-friendly environment adjacent to San Pedro Square, and oversized outdoor screens and speakers will be placed on both W St. John St. and N San Pedro St.
Fans who RSVP ahead of time are eligible to win a number of prizes, including 2022 FIFA World Cup Panini stickers, tickets to the Quakes’ 2023 Home Opener, and more. 2023 Earthquakes Season Ticket Holders who attend the viewing parties will also be able to claim a free drink voucher. Fans who purchase 2023 Earthquakes Season Tickets on-site during matchdays will also qualify for a free drink voucher. In collaboration with Stan’s Donut Shop, free Quakes-themed donuts will be available for early risers who attend 5 a.m. PT matches Nov. 20-23 and Nov. 26-29, while supplies last. On Nov. 24 and Nov. 25, Krispy Kreme donuts will be available, while supplies last.
San Pedro Square Market features multiple nearby parking garages and is located near the VTA Santa Clara light rail station for those looking to utilize public transportation.
PayPal Park, home of the San Jose Earthquakes, held viewing parties for the 2018 FIFA World Cup but will be converted into a winter wonderland as part of Enchant, which will take place from Nov. 25 – Jan. 1.
