SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that the club will host a Women’s Soccer Celebration on Saturday, July 30 when the Quakes host Real Salt Lake, presented by Coca-Cola. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Before the match, a Women’s Leadership Panel will be held at the Element Hotel across the street from PayPal Park featuring five influential females: former professional soccer player and current Santa Clara County Firefighter Engineer Ashley Hann, former professional soccer player and current Santa Clara County Probationary Firefighter Casey Hirsch, Quakes II Head Athletic Trainer Deanna Geraci, Quakes Academy coach Erin Ridley, and Reyes Coca-Cola Bottling Market Unit President, Northern California, Jill Petersen. Check-in will begin at 4:30pm followed by the panel from 5:15-6 p.m. At the conclusion, the panelists will all be available for speed mentoring/networking. Food from Arteaga’s and beverages from Coca-Cola will be served.
The Quakes will host a Women’s Resource Fair in the PayPal Park Epicenter for fans to learn about and donate to several allies in support of women’s reproductive rights and victims of domestic violence. Among the organizations confirmed to attend are Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, HomeFirst, Girl Scouts of Northern California, and BAWSI.
The Earthquakes will sell t-shirts designed by Houyee Chow, a local female artist, with proceeds benefitting Next Door Solutions to Domestic Violence, Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, and The Brigid Alliance. These same three organizations will also benefit from the Quakes’ soccer clinic led by former United States Women’s National Team legend Leslie Osborne on Friday, July 22. The match will also feature U.S. Women’s National Team legends Brandi Chastain and Aly Wagner kicking the ceremonial first goal pregame and a celebration of local collegiate women’s soccer teams at halftime.
