SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes today announced that the club has signed defender Paul Marie to a new multi-year contract.
“Paul is a player we felt had the potential to compete in MLS upon selecting him during the 2018 SuperDraft,” said Earthquakes general manager Jesse Fioranelli. “Over the past three seasons, Paul has continued to develop and earn the trust of the coaching staff which is why we believe Paul can contribute even more to the team in the future.”
Marie, 25, is entering his fourth season with San Jose after being selected in the first round (No. 12 overall) of the 2018 MLS SuperDraft. He has since tallied one goal and one assist in 21 appearances, including seven starts. Marie set career highs in appearances (12), starts (4), minutes (353) and goals (1) in 2020 despite the shortened season.
Marie previously competed for the France U-16 National Team and was a starter in each of his three years at Florida International University from 2015-17.
