The San Jose Earthquakes announced today the signing of four players to short-term agreements ahead of the team’s friendly against C.F. Pachuca of Liga MX on Saturday, Sept. 3 at Avaya Stadium. Midfielders
Max Alvarez
and
Chase Minter
along with forwards
Christian Chaney
and
Joaquin Rivas
join the Quakes from the club’s USL affiliate Sacramento Republic FC through Saturday night before returning to Sacramento. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Chaney’s loan is pending USL approval.
Alvarez, 25, has made 15 total appearances (three starts) for Sacramento this season, tallying one assist, while Minter, 24, and Rivas, 24, have each made two starts in six appearances. Chaney, 21, signed with Sacramento on Aug. 12 from the PDL side Fresno Fuego where he notched 13 goals and an assist in 12 matches in 2016.
C.F. Pachuca are the defending Liga MX Clausura champions after earning a 2-1 aggregate victory over Monterrey in May. San Jose owns a 10-8-8 all-time record in international exhibitions and the club has posted a 7-0-4 record in the past 11 exhibitions against international opponents, including a 2-1 win over Real Sociedad of Spain’s La Liga earlier this year. The Quakes are 2-8-4 against clubs from Mexico all-time, including a 1-5-3 record in friendlies.
