SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes have signed midfielder Cam Cilley and defender Keegan Tingey to Homegrown Player contracts for the 2023 season with club options through 2026. The two Stanford University graduates become the 12th and 13th products of the Quakes Academy to sign with the first team.
“Cam and Keegan both had standout careers in the Quakes Academy and at Stanford University,” said Earthquakes General Manager Chris Leitch. “They’ve both earned the opportunity to continue their development at the professional level.”
Cilley, 22, was a four-year starter for the Stanford Cardinal (2019-22) and tallied six goals and nine assists in 69 total appearances (61 starts). He was named First Team All-Pac-12 as a senior in 2022 after starting all 20 matches and setting career highs in goals (6) and assists (5). He finished the season as one of two players in the Pac-12 Conference with 6+ goals and 5+ assists. Cilley was also named a First Team Scholar All-American by United Soccer Coaches in 2022 and was a Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient in 2020 and 2021.
Tingey, 22, was a four-year starter for Stanford (2019-22) and tallied three goals and 16 assists in 66 total appearances (61 starts). He was named Second Team All-Pac-12 as a senior in 2022 after recording seven assists, sixth most in the Pac-12 and second most among defenders. He previously earned Honorable Mention All-Pac-12 honors in both 2020 and 2021 and was a Pac-12 Academic Honor Roll recipient in 2019 and 2020.
The two players led Stanford to a Pac-12 championship in 2020 and helped the Cardinal finish third place nationally in 2019. The duo joins former Stanford stars Tanner Beason, Ousseni Bouda, and Will Richmond on the Quakes roster.
Cilley and Tingey both attended De La Salle High School in Concord, the same alma mater as Quakes legend Chris Wondolowski, goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski, and goalkeeper coach Adin Brown.
