SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Jahmir Hyka underwent reconstructive surgery to repair multiple facial fractures on Friday afternoon. The injuries were sustained during a training session last week. The surgery was performed by Dr. Jon-Paul Pepper and is expected to sideline the Albanian midfielder for 2-3 weeks.
Hyka, 30, joined the Earthquakes ahead of the 2017 season. Over the past two years, he has tallied six goals and five assists in 49 appearances.
