SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will celebrate Mexican Heritage Night, presented by PG&E, at Avaya Stadium on Saturday, May 4. The Quakes will host expansion side FC Cincinnati for the first time ever at 6:45 p.m., and 5,000 fans will receive a blanket, courtesy of PetersenDean.
Fans can purchase special event tickets here for just $25, which includes a limited-edition Quakes Mexican Heritage Night flag, access to the match, all included festivities, and an exclusive postgame meet-and-greet with Mexican National Team legend and Earthquakes assistant coach Benjamin Galindo. These special event tickets will also be available at the Earthquakes Front Office on weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The 7UP Epicenter, a two-acre fan zone inside Avaya Stadium, will host numerous pregame activations, including a Lucha Libre show courtesy of Pro Wrestling Revolution LLC. Mexico’s second most popular sport after soccer, Lucha Libre is professional wrestling that is known for its colorful masks and high-flying athletes. The 7UP Epicenter will also host a Volaré Studios dance performance.
Mariachi Jalisco will be performing outside of the main gate upon the stadium’s opening at 5 p.m. The group will then circle the concourse and head to the 7UP Epicenter to continue the performance. Formed in the 1980s, Mariachi Jalisco is one of the premier mariachi bands in the Bay Area.
Fans will also have an opportunity to indulge in a variety of Mexican-themed delicacies. Avaya Stadium concessionaire Spectra will prepare battered and fried avocados at Stand 12 and enchilada potato skins at Stand 7, in addition to various Mexican food trucks. There will also be a $10 Paloma Cocktail drink special, which is comprised of El Jimador tequila, grapefruit soda, fresh lime juice, and a wedge for garnish.
Fans are also encouraged to enter a free raffle by approaching a roaming member of the Earthquakes’ Brand Ambassador team. Three lucky fans will each take home a four-foot-tall Q mascot piñata.
Traditional Mexican entertainment will extend to the field as well, with San Jose-based dance group Grupo Folklorico Los Laureles performing at halftime. Also at halftime, the Quakes will honor local youth soccer development leaders from the surrounding Mexican-American communities. These dedicated individuals have devoted countless hours to manage the leagues that produce the stars of tomorrow.
The fun doesn’t stop once the clock hits 90 minutes, as El Jimador presents a postgame fiesta at the TCL 4K Bar. North America’s largest outdoor bar will remain open for an hour after the final whistle. Chuy Gomez will continue to DJ and drink specials will be offered.
