SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will face USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC on Saturday, Feb. 18 in a preseason matchup set to kickoff at 12:30 p.m. PT at Greater Nevada Field. The game will mark the historic first match for Reno 1868 FC, who will play their inaugural season in USL during the 2017 season. The match will also be the first time a major league team from any sport will play in Reno.
“This is a great opportunity for the city of Reno to see their team play for the first time and facing an MLS team is icing on the cake,” said general manager of Reno 1868 FC Andy Smith. “I’m excited for our fans and the opportunity this affords our players.”
The Earthquakes announced the two-year USL affiliate partnership with Reno 1868 FC on June 29, 2016, set to take effect at the beginning of the 2017 season. The partnership agreement allows the Earthquakes expanded opportunities for player development, talent identification and rehabilitation assignments, while managing the technical direction of Reno 1868 FC.
Tickets for the match are available on the Reno 1868 FC website.
